We Begin "The Year of the Sock"
Cast-ons with Cathy
and
Start a Sock Knit-Along: Fiesta Feet

To start our YEAR OF THE SOCK we will learn which cast-ons are good for cuff-down socks and start our sock knit-a-long.
If you haven’t got the pattern yet, bold knitters who like challenges are knitting Lucy Neatby’s Fiesta Feet; the pattern is available as a pdf download for $9 from Patternfish: http://www.patternfish.com/patterns/1372. Timid knitters and those new to the joys of making socks will be knitting Lucy Neatby’s Simply Splendid Socks: http://www.lucyneatby.com/tmhold4.html (click on the “how to knit a perfect sock” link in the pink box). We are knitting Lucy’s designs as we will be watching her video “Sock Techniques 1” as part of our workshops.
Even if you do not intend to knit-a-long socks with us, bring yarn and needles (double pointed or circular) to practice the cast-ons in the round. Also bring some waste yarn as we will be teaching provisional cast on, which is needed to start Fiesta Feet.
